How it works

RetrievAir flies pets and their families in comfort between major destinations in the U.S. Learn more about how our flying experience is designed so dogs and cats of any size can travel together in the aircraft cabin.

Choose a Fare Type

You can make a changes to your flight for a $50/person/flight fee.

If you’d like to cancel your flight, we can issue a travel voucher for the full amount, minus a $50/person/flight fee.

Flight changes are free, and flights are fully refundable, with no additional fees.

Booking Rules

Each adult may travel with either one pet or one infant (FAA regulations limit us to 3 infants per flight). Pets must not exceed the number of adults traveling.

Pets up to 40 lbs. may sit in your lap during the flight.

When flying with two adults, your pet flies free and can relax in the legroom area. If you’re traveling alone, a separate seat must be purchased for your pet.

For pets over 75 lbs., you must book a separate seat.

If two pet parents are traveling together, you can bring two pets up to 74 lbs. each—both can sit comfortably in the leg/lay room at no extra cost.

For the safety and comfort of all passengers, children (14 and under) can travel with your group but cannot be responsible for a pet. An adult must be responsible for each pet onboard.

Day of Flight

Our flights operate out of pet-friendly private terminals, ensuring a peaceful experience for both you and your pet.

Arrive 45 minutes before departure at our pet-friendly private terminal for a calm, crowd-free check-in.

  • Bring any required pet documentation based on your destination.
  • Let your pet stretch, use the restroom, and settle in before boarding.
  • 2 checked bags (up to 50 lbs. each)
  • 1 carry-on (backpack or blanket for your pet)

We board back to front for comfort and safety.

In 2-seat rows:

  • If you booked with a pet 75 lbs or over, or one adult and a pet over 40 lbs, your pet will be secured in the window seat during taxi, takeoff, and landing, while you sit in the aisle.
  • If you booked two adults and one or two pets between 40-74 lbs, your pet(s) will relax comfortably in the spacious leg/lay room instead of the window seat.

In single

  • If you booked an adult and a pet under 40 lbs pets sit in your lap or at your feet during taxi, takeoff, and landing.
  • Note: An extra person in your group may be seated in a single seat.

  • After landing, we’ll deplane front to back for a smooth and organized exit.
  • Your checked baggage will be ready and waiting as soon as you step off the plane—no long waits or crowded carousels.
  • And just like that… you’re off on your next adventure together!

My olde English and French bullldogs cannot fly commercial. One of them gets car sick and both are heat intolerant. RetrievAir takes the stress out of the 1100 mile journey.

We flew round-trip from New York to Florida and had a first-rate experience both times! The flight attendant remembered us on the way home, and she gave my dog so much extra attention because she was a little nervous. She even gave us a full-size calming supplement to try for free. We had a fantastic vacation to Chicago and RetrievAir set the tone for this trip. Everyone, from the staff on the ground, to the pilots and the gentelmen helping put our bags on the plane, all treated us and our English Bulldog like superstars. Special shout out to Elizabeth Ann, the stewardess for our return trip. She was so warm and just loved every dog on board. She took pictures and really made us all feel special. I would definitely recommend retrievair to all of my buddies with dogs.we have taken our pup on other airlines and this was by far our best flight.

Our experience with RetrievAir was very positive. While we did have an unexpected issue with the aircraft that caused a delay, the RetrievAir team was very responsive and did everything possible to take care of the passengers and pups. The check in and boarding processes were very simple and pups were given plenty of space. I especially appreciated how kind and accommodating our flight crew was. They were wonderful and we are looking forward to our next flight with RetrievAir.
My 6 month old Labradoodle had a great time in the flight. The flight attendant was really friendly with him and offered hugs and treats. The potty areas at layovers made a huge difference.

The RetrievAir experience was great and so fun to see everyone with their dogs. My dog is little, so she could fly under the seat in a carrier on a commercial flight, but being able to have her sit with me was the best. Excellent customer service. Would definitely fly RetrievAir again.
I dreaded taking my anxious dog on a cross country trip. But due to a family medical emergency we had to do it. Thank goodness for RetrievAir! We had an amazing experience from start to finish, and for a reasonable price. These people know and love dogs! Patches enjoyed his trip and even made several new friends including Bacon, Bunny, Bodie, and Bean. The folks at RetrievAir were there to help us at every step and even effectively dealt with a sweet but very dog-reactive dog en route from NY to LA. Well done.
